Our Vision For Kids

We are not babysitting, we are developing believers and world-changers.

Birth - 2 Years

Every age has the opportunity to participate in Sunday morning education! For those too little or too sleepy to learn, we offer nursery for ages 0-5. Our nursery is located in the North West Hall next to the exit. All nursery volunteers are members of Calvary Church and have signed Child Safety Policies outlining their responsibilities.

3 - 5 Years

Children’s Worship is for children 3 years old by September 15 through Kindergarten. Children’s Worship is a worship atmosphere where children experience God’s love. They experience worship at their level. Here they learn and experience the stories and parables from the Bible. They follow an order of worship like the “big church”. The children leave the “big church” during the first part of the service after the blessing.

1st - 6th Grades

Beginning at 9:00am, all elementary-aged kids join together in our main teaching room to sing songs and hear Bible stories about God’s love for them. Afterward, kids are sent into classrooms based on their school grades. There, our Sunday school teachers continue teaching them about God’s story at their individual learning levels.

Currently, we are working through the stories of Jesus, learning about who he is and how he is our Lord and Savior. Below is a link to our elementary Sunday school curriculum

What to Expect on Your First Visit

When You Arrive

When you arrive, the greeter at the door can direct your family towards the nursery, and let you know how our children’s worship ministry operates.

How Things Work

At the nursery, you will check-in your child and receive a pager with a dedicated number allowing us to contact you during the service if any issues arise.

Check-In

Your child is important to us. On your first visit, we need the following personal information: parent/legal guardian names, children’s names and ages, and any special instructions (allergies, special needs) for each child.

Safety

Here at Calvary Church, we understand the importance of trust. We seek to earn and keep your trust by holding ourselves accountable to proper safety standards when it comes to the care of our children. This is why we require all volunteers (both members and non-members) who work directly with children to know, sign, and adhere to our Child and Volunteer Safety Policy.  This policy outlines proper conduct as well as the consequences for those who fail to meet the requirements of said conduct. Each year we require all volunteers, both new and old to reacquaint and resign our safety policy, ensuring that all are aware of proper conduct.

Mother's Room

Is your newborn too restless for the main worship experience or is your toddler still hesitant to be away from you for too long? We have the perfect place for you! The Mother’s Room is a space set aside for parents to be with their smaller children with toys, blankets, and still get to experience the worship and message live via video.

Kids Programs

MAINLY MUSIC

We are glad you are interested in joining the Mainly Music family. Our team is excited to share this fun and educational program with you and your kids! We will sing, rhyme, and move together with our kids.

Mainly Music meets at the Calvary House Youth on Elm Street. We have sessions available on Wednesday and Fridays at 9:30. We run approximately 10-week semesters in the fall and the spring.

The sessions starts with about 30 minutes of music and conclude with a time for refreshments, play, craft, and socializing. We usually wrap up by 11am.

If you are interested in more information or signing up for this program, please e-mail us.

VBS (Vacation Bible School)

Every June many of the congregations of Pella participate together to host a community-wide Vacation Bible School. There are classes for preschool children through those entering 6th grade.  Each host church selects a different age group.  The goal of Vacation Bible School is to share the gospel message in a fun and compelling way with every child in our community.

GEMS (3rd-8th Grades)

GEMS stands for: Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior. This is a girl’s centered ministry which seeks to “equip girls with God’s love.” Guided by our dedicated female counselors, this club is a place where girls can belong and be loved. Girls will learn about God, his word, and his world! “They will learn how to apply the bible to their everyday life and challenges, participate in service projects, and make meaningful crafts that encourage others.”

Cadets (3rd-8th Grades)

A boy’s centered ministry which seeks to bring up young men in faith and ability. Guided by our dedicated male counselors, boys from grades 3-8 are invited to explore God in scripture, nature, and in service. Children will learn practical life skills, outdoor and craftsman skills, and, most importantly, learn what being a man of God really looks like.
